The Adult Flu Immunization Screening Task targets patients by utilizing the data DocStation receives from the health plan. The task will target any patient participating in the program who has not yet received the recommended routine vaccination for influenza.

To begin the task, select "Start". The task is broken down by vaccine type, starting with influenza. The pharmacist should review the patient's vaccine history for the pertinent sections and add immunization events to the patient record if necessary. Once complete confirm within the task that the current immunization record is up to date.

Confirm Presence of Vaccine Exclusions / Contraindications

As you know, there are a handful of reasons in which a patient would not be indicated for a particular vaccine. For example, if they've previously had an anaphylaxis reaction to the vaccine. Document the presence of any vaccine exclusions in this section of the task. If no exclusions are present select that option.

Document Outcome of Encounter

If you identify the opportunity to administer a needed immunization, document that in the outcome of vaccine recommendation section or select the most applicable outcome of the consultation (multiple options may be selected).

Assessments & Interventions

Use this section to document who the task was communicated with and if any referrals were made.

Document Communication Details & Supplemental Notes

Use this section to document the communication method for completing the task and other details such as date and time of when the service took place.

At the end of the task you will have the option to leave any notes or indicate any related items from other sections of the patient's profile as needed, like conditions or drug therapy problems.

Complete The Task

Once you've captured all of the pertinent details, click "Continue" to automatically generate any applicable documents, if no additional documents are needed click "Continue" and "Close" on the task to complete the task. At the top of the task you will see "Task completed by" which indicates the task is complete.

To pause your work and come back to it later click "Save and Close" at the bottom of the task.

Just in case...

Archiving a Task

As always, DocStation relies on the pharmacist's knowledge of the patient when it comes to relevancy of tasks, so if a task is not relevant to the patient, or if the patient refuses the consultation, or something else comes up that prevents you from completing the task, you can archive it instead.

Select the (...) icon on the right side of the task card, then select "Archive"

Choose the most applicable reason. Then select "Archive Task". If you've already started the task but decide to archive it instead, select the same (...) menu and select "Archive".
