Overview

As part of the More Than a Script program, NCPDP grant-funded pharmacies can now perform on-demand HbA1c point of care (POC) testing and receive reimbursement for delivering this service to eligible members.

This task supports improved diabetes monitoring and aligns with program goals to enhance clinical outcomes and patient engagement, including A1c control.

Reimbursement Details

  • Reimbursement amount: $50 per completed task

  • The reimbursement amount covers the test and the administration of the test

  • This payment is issued upon successful completion and submission of the on-demand task in DocStation

Important: Enter the A1c value into both the on-demand task and the More Than a Script encounter (e.g., visit 1a) when documenting the service

When to Use This Task

The A1c POC Testing on-demand task should be completed whenever:

  • A pharmacy performs an HbA1c test at the point of care

  • The test is conducted for a More Than a Script eligible member with diabetes

  • The service is not tied to a scheduled visit and is completed on demand

How to Complete the Task in DocStation

  1. Navigate to the appropriate member profile

  2. Select the Tasks tab

  3. Click the blue “+” button in the top right corner

  4. Select On-Demand Task

  5. From the Task Type dropdown, select:
    “A1c Point of Care Testing Task for NCPDP Grant-Funded Pharmacies”

  6. Click Add and Open Task

  7. Complete all required task fields:

    1. Enter service details

    2. Include relevant notes if applicable

  8. Click Continue on the bottom of the task

  9. Click Continue when prompted to select documents

  10. The top of the task will show "task completed by" indicating the task is complete and will be included in monthly encounter reporting and reimbursement processing
