How to navigate the patient list and query builder.

The Same Patients, With More Control

We're rolling out a new way to work with your patient list. It's available now, and you can switch to it whenever you're ready.

Turning It On

  1. Open the Patient List from your dashboard

  2. Click the toggle in the top right

  3. Select Try it

Not for you yet? Select Back to the old list from the same toggle to go back. You can move between the two as often as you like. This will become the default view for everyone in the coming weeks, so it's a good time to get familiar.

Customize Your Columns

Add, remove, reorder, and resize columns to show exactly the patient data you care about.

  • Add or remove a column: open the column menu and check or uncheck the fields you want to see

  • Reorder columns: drag a column header to a new position

  • Resize a column: drag the edge of a column header

Building Patient Queries

You can also just describe the patients you want to find, in your own words, like "patients on Medicare who haven't had a claim in 90 days." The list will do its best to match your description. For more precise or repeatable filtering, use the query builder below.

Using the Query Builder

  1. Open the Filter Panel

    • Click the filter icon or "Add Filter" button at the top of the patient list

    • The query builder panel will appear, allowing you to create custom filters

  2. Select Filter Criteria

    • Choose from available patient attributes such as:

      • Demographics (age, gender, location)

      • Clinical data (conditions, medications, allergies)

      • Program enrollment status

      • Insurance information

  3. Add Multiple Criteria

    • Click "Add Rule" to include additional criteria

    • Combine multiple filters to narrow down your search

    • Use "AND" logic to find patients meeting all specified conditions

  4. Apply Your Query

    • Once you've configured your filters, click "Apply Filters"

    • The patient list will update to show only patients matching your criteria

Refining Your Results

Modifying Filters

  • Edit existing filters: Click on the Filters panel to adjust parameters

  • Remove filters: Click the "X" icon next to a filter criteria to remove it

  • Clear all filters: Use the "Clear current filter" under the Option menu to start fresh

Sorting Results

  • Click on column headers to sort by that field

  • Toggle between ascending and descending order

Saving and Exporting

Save Common Queries

If you frequently use certain filter combinations, you can save them for quick access in future sessions. This feature helps streamline routine reporting and patient list management.

  • Click the Options menu

  • Click Save Filter

  • Give the filter a name

When returning to the same filter, click "Load saved filter" in the Options menu and select the desired query.

Export Patient Data

Once you've filtered your patient list to show the desired results, use the export function to download the data for external analysis or reporting purposes. Click the download button in the top right corner. The resulting export will exactly match the query criteria and the selected table columns.

Tips for Effective Filtering

  • Start broad, then narrow: Begin with general criteria and add more specific filters as needed

  • Use date ranges: Filter by date ranges for time-based analysis (e.g., patients with values reported in the last 30 days)

  • Combine clinical and demographic filters: Create targeted patient segments for outreach or program enrollment

  • Save frequently used queries: Build a library of saved filters for common reporting needs

Common Use Cases

  • Identifying patients due for follow-up labs

  • Finding patients with specific conditions for program enrollment

  • Generating lists for quality measure reporting

  • Segmenting patients by insurance type or payer

  • Locating patients assigned to specific locations or programs

Richer Reports

Patient data now feeds into your dashboards, so you can report on patient counts and trends the same way you already report on claims and tasks.
